I See Snow

...and it has the same look on its face that my cat used to get when stepping into snow!

You Light Up My Night

On a guinea feather. I love these types of retro lights. I miss the real ones that we used to put on our bushes in Ohio in the 1970s.

Unwrapped.

This is a box full of boxes. I think it needs at least one more layer of boxy goodness before it qualifies as meta. These all went to the Mississippi Craft Center in Ridgeland to be sold in the Craftsment Guild Store.

Barrel Racing

I saw my first barrel racing competition this past August at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds, and I enjoyed it. Like most of the crowd, I was thrilled when younger kids had lots of spunk and did really well. The youngest riders were around age 7 or 8.

Gobi no Kitsune

This Japanese fox spirit was a request from my brother and I'm deeply pleased with the creature that has emerged from my brush. It feels solid and sweet; It continues to draw me in with it's knowing smile and graceful confidence. It is kind and wise.

Gnomes of Oakland Go for a Ride

Giddyup! This is one of the Gnomes of Oakland riding on the Willie the Terrier. The Gnomes have short legs and can't run very fast so they have hired Willie to carry them around the Lake Merritt area when they travel under the cover of night. They like to stay close to the lake where they can gather clover, fresh water and some of the nicest twigs and paper scraps in town. During the day you can sometimes catch them resting on the telephone poles, which are not only their bus stops for Willie but also their preferred perches for keeping watch over the neighborhood.

Mini Day of the Dead

This is on a small, immature peacock tail feather: Sugar skull about the size of the end of a pencil eraser.

Feliz Dia de los Muertos!

It's November 2nd. Happy Day of the Dead.

I've got a big Christmas show coming up in less than a month, and I should be working on holiday ornaments tonight, but this was calling to me much more strongly. I'll try to be Christmasy again tomorrow; A little Bing Crosby caroling in the background might help get me in the mood.

I can't find my good camera, which is starting to worry me. I had to take tonight's picture with my cell phone. Click on the picture to see the larger version to catch more of the detail of the painting.

Tiny Raccoon Band Assemble!

The gang's all here! These tiny feathers range in size from 1/2" to 1 1/2". Each of them was given to the members of the staff of the Mississippi Arts Commission, except for the rogue bagpiper, who is now residing in Texas.
